About me

With a passion for drawing and with a rich imagination, I started my journey to develop myself as a Visual Development Artist and Character Designer. Ever since I can remember I was drawing, when I bought a N64 with my savings I played for the first time The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. A whole new world opened up for me. I was enchanted by the atmosphere of that world, it was an experience for me. From then on I wanted to make games myselfs and creating worlds and cultures.

After I had completed my studies at the Media College Amsterdam I had the feeling that I was not finished learning, and I wanted  to create more creative work and improve my techniques. I did not wanted to create ‘pretty’ drawings, I wanted my drawings to had depth, and that they were designed with intellectual choices.
But mostly I wanted to give an experience to the player.

So I continued studying at HKU where I am now graduated as Bachelor in Game Art with Honours.

During this study I have developed myself as an Character Designer, I found that I really liked to design expressions and characters. I was also experimenting more with drawing caricatures and have done many studies on stills from movies to learn about lighting and color. During my bachelor graduation project I focused on Visual Development for an animation, I worked with a 2D animation student and learned about the animation industry. I loved to work with her and to write a scenario and shape our world.

I also followed the master's program at the HKU and gradueted as Master of Arts in Creative Design for Digital Cultures, with a Supportive Narrative about how an Artist can evoke an emotion with an illustration. To do this I combined the concepts Psychology of the Arts and  Affective Science and created a guideline so each artist can evoke an emotion with his/her illustration.

My goal is to continue to develop my techniques and designs. I want to give an experience to the viewers/gamers and let them immerse in worlds and connect with characters that I created.
